Founder Frederick Schilling has conjured up the Art of Chocolate Alchemy to craft four new dark bars with flavor combinations that are innovative, great-tasting and healthful. To deepen your Dagoba experience, we're also printing on the inside of the label - including journal entries from Frederick's trips to origin, Full Circle Sustainability tips and more. Full Circle Sustainability Tip: Use compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs). If each US home changed just 1 regular bulb to a CFL, we'd cut 1 million pounds of carbon emissions!

For all recipes, the key to success is to follow the directions of the Dagobian oracles: stir 11 times clockwise, then 3 times counter clockwise. We've been asked why this is. Ginger, from our Customer Enlightenment team, offered the Dagobian Oracle's answer to this mystery:

The Master Number Eleven heralds the arrival of the New and the Unknown.  Three is a magic number harkening the past, present and future toward divine unity. This pattern of preparation is part of the alchemy of chocolate, a naturally creative endeavor passed down through the ages from our Dagobian ancestors.  When the vapors rise in this fashion the milk will be at the most receptive point to accept chocolate into its embrace.  This synergy of milk (or alternative) and chocolate brings us to new levels of unknown enjoyment. Delight in the difference.

Dear Dagobians,

Each year, we conjure up resolutions. This year our resolution is simple, yet infinite in its possibilities: to keep improving what we're doing, and to make a bigger impact. In this, we're guided by the Art of Chocolate Alchemy - using Full Circle Sustainability that blends Quality, Ecology, Equity & Community. We're sharing some initial thoughts, and invite you to send ideas to help us continue to offer the best of all worlds through pure chocolate perfection.

Quality - As always, we're fanatic about seeking out and sharing the best of the chocolate world! We will continue to search for hidden treasures in diverse origins, perfect new blends and create new flavor combinations. This will be paired with great service and information to deepen your chocolate experience.

Ecology - We know we've got only one planet, and that it's our responsibility to protect and restore it. In cacao countries, we'll continue to help communities maintain the rainforest, replant deforested areas, support ecological research and support conversion to organic farming. In our operations, we'll work to zero out more of our carbon impact, educate ourselves and others, protect threatened land, link up with other companies for bigger change and keep reducing our waste, energy and resource use.

Equity - We've always been committed to ensuring that our producer partners have safe working conditions and get an equitable price in exchange for their quality crop and stewardship. In 2007, our Founder Frederick Schilling will continue to check out new sources and inspire friends in the industry to increase their direct sourcing partnerships. We'll continue to share updates from the source so you'll see the wonder and happiness cacao can bring.

Community - All of us are linked through the web of life, and we want to help strengthen and nurture this vibrant system. We'll be launching a blog and expanding our website to help you connect with us and each other to unlock the mysteries of cacao and the power of simple, shared intentions. As always, we'll continue to support local, regional and national groups who share our mission of Full Circle Sustainability.
